“Come, and you will see”
The best way to discern whether God is calling you to belong to
Him as a Little Sister of the Poor is to contact the home nearest
you and visit. You are always welcome to join us for Mass, the
Liturgy of the Hours, and to assist us in serving the elderly
at our homes. For a complete listing of our homes in North America
see the Directory of Homes.

Vocation Discernment Retreats
Vocation Discernment Retreats, offered throughout the year at the
novitiate and in different homes, are open to single, Catholic
women, 18-40 years of age, who are open to exploring the possibility
of a religious vocation.
The retreat begins in an atmosphere of silence with Eucharistic
adoration and guided experience of “lectio divina,” the
contemplative reading of Holy Scripture.
Each retreatant is offered the opportunity to exchange email addresses
to “meet” regularly with a Little Sister who will accompany
her in her discernment during the months following the retreat.
Vocational accompaniment is also available in person at the novitiate
and in every home.
“Live-in Volunteer”
Live-in volunteering as a means of discernment provides young women
with an ideal opportunity to experience closely the life of a
Little Sister of the Poor. She witnesses the daily weaving of
prayer, community and service which each Little Sister personally
assimilates in her life.
Lectio and Adoration for Discernment
Some homes offer a monthly hour of prayer based on Scripture and
Eucharistic adoration. The prayer evening is often combined with
the opportunity to serve the elderly at our homes.
